The recent Ontario cabinet shuffle seemed to have worked a miracle for the Ottawa Jazz Festival.
The festival has announced that it will now receive a grant of $250,000 from the Celebrate Ontario program.
The program had originally turned the festival down in a decision that was announced in the weeks before the festival began.
Tye bad news led to a strong showing of community, the festival said in a statement issued Thursday to supporters.
“The Festival ended with one of its strongest turnouts in years thanks to a dedicated and loyal audience and generous support from its sponsors and partners.”
A few days later, they said, the new minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sport, reversed that decision. That new minister happens to be the Tory MPP for Nepean, Lisa MacLeod.
She told the festival that a review had reversed the original decision, the statement said.
“This happy ending could never have happened without the many emails and letters of support that our loyal audience sent to the Ministry, to our local MPPs, and to the Premier’s office,” said the festival’s executive director, Catherine O’Grady.
