Ottawa Art Gallery plans a party and a projection of art by DJ Bear Witness

As the Ottawa Art Gallery moves closer to its official opening now expected early in the New Year, stff are planning a party to get people warmed up.

On Dec. 15 the OAG will hold an open-air art presentation featuring a commissioned work by DJ BearWitness, a member of the internationally known band A Tribe Called Red.

The artwork calledĀ Of Buffalo, Bears, and Indian Scouts will be projected on the facade what is called the OAG Cube from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The cube is located at 50 Mackenzie King Bridge (at the intersection of Waller Street) in the OAG Expansion front courtyard.

The large-scale interactive light installation Ascension by The Latest Artists will also soon be mounted on the Mackenzie King Bridge wall.

The gallery is part of a $100 million rejuvenation of Arts Court as a visual arts centre and as a theatre venue, along with a condo development. The project has seen about $40 million in public money with private sector partners and uOttawa also involved. The new building was expected to be opened last summer, but has experienced delays.
